Seriously, after having been stood up twice last week, shouldn't I give this up for good? Now, it's not like I went to the place and then had a date not show, but I had to cross out TWO DATES in my planner. Scratch outs in my planner! Do you know what that does to my scheduling chi?! Just know, it's not good. I felt quite sorry for myself, and as a result ate store-bought soup four nights last week. Good for my love handles, at least? Though the late night trip to Artichoke on Saturday night probably didn't help. If I'm not going home with a man, at least I'm coming home with something else that's warm and delicious. And I didn't have to spend all day Sunday wondering if my calzone was going to call me.
And yet, it's another week, and somehow I am already pumped up about being back on the dating scene. After tonight's date rescheduled for Wednesday (he had a REALLY IMPORTANT WORK PRESENTATION THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE I'M SURE IT'S REAL), I came home from work and decided that I would not settle for another night of soup. Instead, I created a masterpiece. My go-to omelet is egg whites, spinach, and one or two wedges of Garlic and Herb Laughing Cow cheese (if you do not have a wheel of this in your fridge, I beg you to go buy some). Tonight, however, I pooled my dinner resources. I subbed broccoli for spinach, swiss cheese for garlic and herb, and added salmon that I had quickly pan-roasted with a little olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The dinner was amazing. And now I've got the energy to cruise the internet for dates all night long (Or at least until my roommates tell me it's time to watch last week's Biggest Loser episode)!
So, we'll see how this week's dates pan out. Date #1 lives in Hoboken, so I have to give him points for going all the way home to shower and then coming back into the city for our date. He also picked a cool (wine-themed!) spot. Odds are in his favor. Date #2 lives in Brooklyn, so I'm obviously a little skeptical. Also, the reschedule is never a good look. If he shows up wearing flannel and/or Crocs, I'm outta there. Don't get me wrong, I love flannel, but not at Phebe's. And not on a first date. And not when you're from BROOKLYN.
ok friend. so only non-brooklynites are allowed to wear flannel these days?
